World Cinema Wednesday

A film starring Joaquin Phoenix and Gwyneth Paltrow set in NY may not be the first type that springs to mind when one thinks “World Cinema”. I’m a Jamaican in Jamaica though, and this film definitely has  an indie feel, so it gets in. Most importantly, Two Lovers is an absolutely excellent piece of work.

A depressed young man moves back in with his parents and finds his life turned upside down as he struggles to choose between the beautiful daughter of a close family friend and the scintillating but volatile next-door neighbor whose passion helps to reignite his lust for life. Directed by James Gray.
