MUST SEE MONDAY: los Dioses Rotos, BROKEN GODS: tonight @ the Bob Marley Museum

So yesterday’s launch of the Travelling Caribbean Film Festival was a success. Big Up to the folks at the Min Culture, JAMPRO and especially the Cubans for continuing to push this initiative and make sure this festival, which was initiated out of a conversion on cultural policy between Jamaica and Cuba, continues to survive. If it wasn’t for this festival, I would not have had the chance to see Broken Gods (Los Dioses Rotos), which, together with the animated short Veinte Anos (Twenty Years) are my favourites for the festival. But today’s post is really about Broken Gods, which is my pick for this week’s Must See Monday. Screening tonight at the Bob Marley museum, preceeded by a film from Costa Rica called Dear Camillo @ 6pm.

Broken Gods is a thriller and melodrama mixed into one, and also utilises some documentary conventions, a blend that enables it to truthfully present contradictory and complex characters…but don’t take it from me, see it for yourself…tonight as part of the Travelling Caribbean Film showcase. Boom bang connect!
