So a little birdie told me our World Cinema writer is in country today, and won’t be back till later. Good. Today’s World Cinema Wednesday is now officially hijacked and I’m calling it Whoyy Wednesday for a movie that made me say, “whoyyy, dat was real good ee.” Raise the Red Lanterns, by Zhang Yimou. The camerawork on this film is amazing, a study in style and control, no unnecessary movement so that when the camera does actually pan or take on a hand-held movement, the result is amazing. Take a look at this opening sequence, arresting in it’s simplicity. The actual film will leave you breathless. Whoyyyy.

Loved that movie. Cinematography was the bomb. The use of colours and the storyline. BTW would love to do an interview with you guys for my blog.
Anytime you ready
One of my all time Asian films…have you graced your eyes on the loveliness that is “The Scent of Green Papaya” or “In the mood for love”
